Budweiser Brands Excluded from Oktoberfest for First Time in 75-Year History

Each year, millions flock to Oktoberfest, the world’s largest volksfest held in the picturesque town of Okto, nestled in the Bavarian Alps. This 6-day extravaganza is renowned for its global cuisine and an impressive array of beers from around the world.

However, this year marks a change as one major brand will be notably absent: Budweiser. Organizer Joseppi Barrona emphasized that Oktoberfest is a celebration of food, fun, and culture, not a platform for political agendas.

“We want to keep the spirit of Oktoberfest alive without unnecessary controversies. That’s why we’ve decided not to include Budweiser and Bud Light, as they don’t align with the traditional Bavarian brewing styles that define our festival.”

Interestingly, the 2022 Oktoberfest menu featured Budweiser and Bud Light as “complementary” options at self-pour stations, known for their low alcohol content and mild flavor, making them suitable for older teenagers according to Bavarian standards.
