“Beyoncé Knowles expresses interest in pursuing a career in country music. Despite her massive success in the music industry, including numerous Grammy Awards, Beyoncé’s desire to delve into the country genre has hit a roadblock. The Academy of Country Music (ACM) has rejected her application for membership, citing skepticism about her intentions.
ACM Executive Director Joe Barron commented on the decision, stating that they initially believed Beyoncé was joking about her interest in country music. While acknowledging her Texan roots and admiration for the genre, the ACM remains unconvinced that she aligns with the values and style of traditional country music. Barron emphasized that Beyoncé’s previous work in other genres, including pop music and socially conscious themes, may not resonate with the ACM’s membership.
As a result of being denied membership, Beyoncé will not be eligible for ACM Music Awards and may miss out on opportunities such as performing at iconic venues like the Grand Ole Opry. Additionally, she will not have access to member benefits such as discounts at restaurants and early access to special events.”
